From Frustration and Slow Progress to Confidence, Communication, and Growth: Avery’s Story

Happy Patient Avery Smiling

Avery’s parents first began noticing concerns around age 1½.

She was struggling with communication, had low muscle tone, and showed signs that her development wasn’t progressing the way they expected.

As her mom shared: “She couldn’t hold a conversation and gave simple two to three word answers. It was tough to get her to progress as her age group was expected to progress.”

On top of that, Avery was still in night diapers and frequently complained of stomach pain.

Daily life became a mix of concern, frustration, and trying to help her catch up.

Trying to Help… But Progress Was Slow

Like many parents, Avery’s family did everything they could.

They tried:

  • speech therapy
  • occupational therapy
  • probiotics
  • working with her at home

Some things helped a little—but progress was slow.

“We tried talking to her to get her to communicate more, but it was a very slow progression… It was frustrating to work at all of these things with very little progress.”

They knew something more was going on—but didn’t have clear answers.

A New Perspective: The Nervous System

When they came to Vibrant Life Chiropractic, they were introduced to something completely new.

“We learned about how the nervous system being misaligned can greatly impact all aspects of the body and development. We were completely unaware of this.”

When they saw Avery’s first neurological scans:

“The first scans were very scary. It was as if just about everything was off.”

But at the same time, it gave them clarity.

Early Wins—and Momentum That Continued

One of the first changes they noticed was in Avery’s gut health.

“After our first scan, we noticed an immediate improvement in her gut. Little to no incidences of tummy pain.”

Then something unexpected happened:

Avery asked to come out of night diapers—something that had previously felt out of reach.

As care continued, more changes followed:

  • Communication began improving
  • Tantrums decreased in duration (from 30+ minutes to 10–15 minutes)
  • Fewer emotional outbursts
  • Easier to redirect and better listening

By the third scan:

“We noticed an improvement in her communication skills.”

By the sixth scan:

“Her behavior had improved and communication got to the level where she was expressing emotions through words.”

A Healthier, More Connected, and More Confident Child

Over time, the changes added up across multiple areas:

  • Speech and communication improved significantly
  • Social skills increased
  • Immune system strengthened
  • Digestive issues decreased
  • Motor tone and coordination improved

Avery’s parents also noticed:

  • Fewer illnesses
  • Faster recovery when she did get sick
  • No recurring ear infections

Life Now

Today, Avery’s life—and her family’s life—looks very different.

“While everything isn’t perfect, things have improved dramatically for our daughter and for us.”

She is now:

  • A better communicator
  • More socially engaged
  • Healthier overall
  • More emotionally regulated

A Message to Other Parents

Avery’s parents shared something that stuck with them from the very beginning:

“Dr Max said one thing to us that I will never forget… ‘I may be able to help.’”

And their experience:

“Take it from us, he did more than just help. He improved the life of our daughter and her parents.”
